If you’re looking for a minimalist interface for Google Reader, and are willing to roll up your sleeves a little bit to do it, Helvetireader is your best option. Inspired by the typeface from which it is named, it is a clean, modern, yet classically Swiss theme. I have been using it for a long time now and love, love, love it.

Unfortunately, it’s developer recently switched to using a feed reader other than Google’s and has stated development and updates will no longer be forthcoming. That said, it continues to work very well and hopefully will continue to in the future.
